The Haul – November 4th, 2015

Welp, this is going to be a welcome back edition of The Haul!  It’s been a LONG time since the last post, but that’s all because of good things that have been keeping us busy, I suppose.  Remy and I have still be trudging through our weekly titles and having “serious discussions” about how we can get finished on the Top 162 X-Men Countdown (we’ll get back on that REAL soon), but here’s the fun stuff…

Hi. I want to be your doctor. And I want to also discuss how the X-Men are being pushed aside for the Inhumans in both the comics and the Marvel Cinematic Univ...hey, where are you going???
Hi. I want to be your doctor. And I want to also discuss how the X-Men are being pushed aside for the Inhumans in both the comics and the Marvel Cinematic Univ…hey, where are you going???

I started working at a new hospital this summer and, while the transition has been difficult at times (since I had been at the last place for all of my training over the past 7 years), it’s been a great change.  Still haven’t found the comic fans over here yet, but once I decorate the office walls with comic art, I’m sure they’ll come running in…or away…

The kids are doing good and Halloween was a blast — that’s The Boy as Stampy Cat (from Minecraft You Tube fame, who he is OBSESSED with) and The Bulldozer as Ariel.  But, that’s not all…

One more comic fan arrived!  That’s right, we’ve got #3 (and last) all swaddled and ready to learn the Word of X.

Meanwhile, Remy is busy hitting NYC’s comedy scene hard and trying to track down all of his heretofore unmentioned and possibly unknown children.

We’re hoping to get more active back on the site going forward, so stay tuned and thanks for sticking around!  Now…

The Haul – January 28th, 2015

The Weekly Haul Header
Winter storm Juno hit the New York area this week — or, rather, was SUPPOSED to hit this week, as it turned out to not be so terrible in my neck of the woods.  We got around a foot and half of snow and my car ended up with a mysteriously busted rear window.  Day off of work in exchange for dealing with glass replacement = unfair trade-off.

In other local news, my comic shop, Collectors Kingdom, has relocated to a temporary spot near their old, now-burnt out, home.  Their IndieGoGo campaign is still ongoing and if you can spare something — anything — they would love and could use the help.  It’s a fantastic shop run by a great guy and it’s a place that is known throughout most of the area as the place for comics, pop culture stuff, and general “geekery”.

AND, daily brown bag art for The Boy is STILL ongoing…

God, I’ve never looked forward to the end of a school year more…

Deciphering the Teaser – Marvel’s Spring 2015

photoOver the past few weeks, Marvel has been releasing teaser images of past events and crossovers, leading many to think that the comic publisher was planning something big and many more to think that they were losing their minds looking for things to rehash.

Turns out that the former group was right and all these promo images, each with the date “Spring 2015” on them, are tied to the previously released teaser for the new Secret Wars (an image that we dissected previously and you can find here).   Now, with the release of a YouTube video, Marvel has made it clear that each of these images represents an alternate universe or timeline, now all wedged together into the new Battleworld.

So how about let’s go through the images, huh?

The Weekly Haul – August 20th, 2014

We’re moving on up here at The Weekly Haul!  If you’ve been here before, you’ve likely realized that the site has a new look to it, thanks to a move over to a larger server and a site creator with bigger functionality.  I’m excited about the future of TWH — Remy and I are still hard at work on our Top 162 X-Men Countdown and we’ve got some more Before the Film articles coming your way soon (since seemingly the only super successful movies being made are based on comics), plus Remy texts me every day with ideas for new features.   The guy’s brain is strange, but at least it’s comics-oriented, right?

So, WeeklyHaulics, let’s get back to the thing that started off this site, huh?  Before we get to the comics, how about a couple of other new things that I got since the last update?

2014-07-22 23.20.51
Four Doctors from Ian Glaubinger (hasunow.com),

2014-07-23 22.14.45
Magik from Kyle Starks (reward from his Kickstarter campaign to fund the HILARIOUSLY AWESOME Sexcastle),

2014-08-23 13.17.11
a quartet of X-Men prints from the super-nice and super-talented Christopher Lee of The Beast is Back,

2014-08-06 20.18.51
and the kids made this on the iPad.

There’s also some more stuff, including art and some action figures, plus some new things on the way/in production, so stay tuned!

The Haul – March 20th, 2013

Things at the house this past week have been pretty chaotic.  This year marked the first big Seder (the Passover meal) at our house and my overachieving wife wanted to prepare everything herself.  The Boy wanted to make the Seder plate though:

No actual living things were harmed in the creation of this Seder plate
No actual living things were harmed in the creation of this Seder plate

Yup, the contents of the plate are all courtesy of Toys R Us by way of his play kitchen foods.  Anyway, we had 12 adults and 4 children at the Seder and the night went without a single argument or food fight, a great achievement if you ask me.  And the food was excellent!

Besides Passover, this past Monday was my wife and her mother’s birthday, which means planning some kind of night out.  This has become more difficult to do as our schedules have gotten busier.  Oh, and since the addition of those two other humans living in our house.  Thankfully, Dawn is in agreement with me that adults shouldn’t need birthday presents (especially those who have the means to get their own things) so I don’t have to worry about the gift hunt like I used to, but getting the kids to behave in a restaurant on the first night of Passover?  I’d almost rather panic while searching Zales.com…

Basically?  Tiring week.

And for the non-Jews out there, Happy Almost Easter!

The Haul – February 20th, 2013

This past week marked my return to work after a week vacation, which of course, leads to something that looks like this:

HIPPA Compliant Photo

Yeah.  A stack of labs to go through so large that it took me all freaking week.  Blech.

Meanwhile, besides working this week, comics came out.  That’s about it — getting back into the swing of things after time off has always been a difficult task for me.  Though almost as a reward, X-Men First Class, the best superhero movie made (go ahead, bring the debate), has been on TV almost non-stop this week.

Freaks and CliquesMan, I love that movie…
